Remembrance

I remember those

last three days

of our times together

I knew you were slipping away. . .

Your breathing became shallow.

“How could you

leave me?” I asked.

I said that I would be OK.

I had NO idea how hard it would be.

You had fought the battles of life. . .

In Vietnam, at work, against cancer.

You ran the race of life

with patience…

I would not want you to stay,

when you could be strong again.

I love you! My heart is breaking!
